IWL Research Abroad Award

This award is not available in Summer 2022.

The Institute of World Languages (IWL) aims to support undergraduate students who have demonstrated exceptional abilities in the acquisition of any world language and culture, as well as great scholarly promise and potential to carry out a research project abroad.

Scholarship awards may be up to $3000 and will be commensurate with the number and quality of applications.

Award recipients are expected to comply with Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and protocols.

Eligibility & Application

Summer Application Deadline: February 15

Successful applicants must:

  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student
  • Maintain good academic and disciplinary standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Be approved to participate via the appropriate application or registration record (a program application or Student Projects Abroad registration must be in progress by the scholarship application deadline; for students submitting a Student Projects Abroad registration, the "Travel Form" must be complete by the scholarship application deadline)
