Education Abroad Program Proposals
Faculty interested in submitting a proposal to offer a new or repeat education abroad program for J-Term or Summer should select and complete the appropriate forms from the list below. Proposals should be submitted via email to the ISO at [email protected] or by mail at P.O. 400165. Proposals require school and departmental endorsement along with review and approval by the International Studies Office (ISO). Only complete proposals are considered. UVA Education Abroad Staff Application (Required for non-teaching staff who have not previously co-led a UVA Education Abroad program.)
UVA Education Abroad Staff and Instructor: Supervisor Recommendation (Required for non-teaching staff and graduate instructors who have not previously co-led a UVA Education Abroad program.)
UVA Education Abroad Instructor Application (Required for teaching faculty and graduate student instructors who have not previously supported a UVA Education Abroad program.)
UVA Education Abroad High Risk Petition (Required for program travel to a country or region sanctioned or restricted according to the Policy on Student International Travel.)

Note: University faculty and staff must complete the Temporary Export Certification form prior to taking University equipment (including laptops, tablets, and phones), non-public technical information (generated or provided by the University) or any develop encryption source code with them on international travel.

Summer and Fall 2024 program director, faculty and staff training will be held on the following dates (all program directors, faculty, or staff must attend one training session):

J-Term and Spring 2025 program director, faculty and staff training will be held on the following dates (all program directors, faculty, or staff must attend one training session):
- Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Zoom
- Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Zoom
Note: New semester education abroad proposals generally require 12-18 months of planning. UVA faculty interested in developing a semester education abroad program should contact Dudley Doane at [email protected] after consulting with the appropriate Associate Dean for Academic Programs in their home school.
