Program Development

Study Abroad Program Proposals
Faculty interested in submitting a proposal to offer a new or repeat study abroad program for J-Term or Summer should select and complete the appropriate forms from the list below. Proposals should be submitted via email to the ISO at studyabroad@virginia.edu or by mail at P.O. 400165. Proposals will be reviewed by the Faculty Advisory Committee for Education Abroad (FACEA) and the International Studies Office (ISO). Only complete proposals will be considered. Proposals require school and departmental endorsement. Questions about the proposal process and forms can be addressed to Dudley Doane at djd4j@virginia.edu.

J-Term and Spring 2018 program director, faculty and staff training will be held on the following dates (all program directors, faculty, or staff must attend one training session):

  • Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Location TBA
  • Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Location TBA

Summer and Fall 2018 program director, faculty and staff training will be held on the following dates (all program directors, faculty, or staff must attend one training session):

  • Friday, April 20, 2018, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Location TBA
  • Wednesday, May 2, 2018, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Location TBA

Note: New semester study abroad proposals generally require 12-18 months of planning. UVA faculty interested in developing a semester study abroad program should contact Dudley Doane at djd4j@virginia.edu after consulting with the appropriate Associate Dean for Academic Programs in their home school.
