Matt joined the Education Abroad team in 2026. Prior to this role, he managed grants and communications for Fulbright-Hays programs in the International and Foreign Language Education office under the Department of Education. He brings to his work over ten years of postsecondary experience, both in the U.S. and abroad, in which he taught courses focused on the intersections of education, language and culture. While a graduate student at UVa, he enjoyed teaching Cultural Orientation Reflection & Engagement seminars for undergraduate Hoos going abroad. His passion for the potential of international exchanges is drawn from his own life-changing experiences abroad, including as a Lecturer at the Royal University of Bhutan, an English Language Fellow in East Timor, and a Peace Corps volunteer on an outer island of Kiribati.
