Student International Travel Considerations
- U.S. Department of State: Revised Worldwide Caution.

New Entry Requirement for Travel To and Transit Through the United Kingdom:
Starting January 8, 2025, visitors from the U.S. and many other countries will be required to have a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter or transit through the UK. The ETA costs £10 and is valid for two years or until the passport used to obtain the ETA expires. Travelers from the US and many other countries can begin to apply for the ETA online or through the UK ETA app starting November 27, 2024. While approvals are predicted to be within three days or faster, students are advised to apply at least three weeks in advance of planned travel in case of processing delays. To learn more, visit the links above or watch videos on what an ETA is and how to apply for a UK ETA.
Make an Advising Appointment
Students interested in education abroad are encouraged to meet with an Education Abroad Advisor. Advisors are specialists in the field of international education with regional expertise. They can help you evaluate program options in order to meet your goals, answer specific questions, and guide you throughout the process of applying and preparing to study abroad.
- Appointments are available in either in-person or virtual formats.
- During the year, refer to the advisor's appointment availability. If you sign up for an in-person time but would prefer to meet virtually, indicate this when requesting the appointment.
- During the summer, appointments are virtual unless you request, and the advisor confirms, in-person.
- If you have a virtual session, your advisor will send you the Zoom link when confirming your appointment.
- In-person appointments will take place in the advisor's office in Minor Hall. Please come to the ISO, on the 2nd floor of Minor Hall, and sign in at the front desk. Plan to arrive a couple minutes early.
- All students are strongly encouraged to complete the Education Abroad Workshop as preparation for your advising appointment.
- When requesting an appointment: please specify your class year, major, academic goals for your international experience, program(s) and term you are interested in, and a list of specific questions you would like to discuss.
- If you are not available during the hours of the advisor with whom you would like to meet, email the advisor directly to set up a separate date and time to talk.
