Susan Staley brings over a decade of international education experience to health, safety, and security work, shaped by years spent guiding students through unfamiliar terrain around the world. Her path began as a Rotary exchange student in Chile, followed by research in Brazil as a UVA Center for Global Health Scholar and a semester at Peking University. She holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Spanish from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of New Mexico. Susan spent three years leading gap year programs across Asia and Latin America — trekking the Himalayas, snorkeling the Galápagos, and building wells in rural Cambodia — before directing a multi-country study abroad program in Europe for five years, where she developed safety and risk management plans and served as the primary point of contact for student incidents during nine-week travel terms. Susan speaks Spanish and Portuguese and resides in Nashville, TN.
